The novel coronavirus has spread across the world and didn’t spare anyone including every global leader who also got influenced by virus from china.

In all of this pandemic, the Indian citizen goes gaga after French President Emmanuel Macron leaned forward and folded his hands for the traditional Indian “namaste” as he greeted German Chancellor Angela Merkel at his Mediterranean holiday retreat on Thursday.

The German Chancellor reciprocated as she too shifted to namaste, evolving as a popular form of welcoming among world leaders in the time of the pandemic.

This video of Emmanuel Macron and Angela Merkel going the Indian way has gone viral on social media with various kind of reactions.

The two leaders are coming together to discuss a long list of issues comprising the pandemic, post-election chaos in Belarus and rising tensions with Turkey.

This is, however, not the first time that World leaders welcomed each other with Namaste. In recent times, US President Donald Trump and Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are also among world leaders who have selected “Namaste” over the usual handshake.

The Israel Prime Minister was among the global leaders who encouraged the Indian-style of greeting. The Israeli PM Netanyahu said that “Just avoid shaking hands as I do. You can try to implement the Indian system of Namaste or say another word like shalom, but find a way, any way of not shaking hands.”

Earlier, A video of Prince Charles getting viral on Social Media as he is noticed greeting people with “Namaste” in London.

The Indian PM Narendra Modi cited to the trending “Namaste” while addressing the India Global Week 2020. “You would have seen Namaste has gone global as a form of greeting. The pandemic has also seen the universal appeal of yoga, Ayurveda and traditional medicine world over. India’s ancient culture and universal peaceful ethos are its strength,” he addressed at the event.

So, The Indian-style greeting ‘Namaste’ has gone global after the Covid-19 pandemic.

It will be an obvious reason to do Namaste instead of Handshake to prevent the spreading of the novel coronavirus. There are extra preventive measures also which comprise frequent washing of hands and use of hand sanitisers.
