JP Nadda – The 11th President of the World’s Largest Political Party

After a very long wait Mr.JP Nadda(Jagat Prakash Nadda) was announced as the eleventh National President of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP). He was serving as a working president of the party from June 2019 and finally on 20th January 2020 he became the President of BJP unanimously.

WHO IS JP NADDA?

Like most members of BJP, JP Nadda is also from the RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh). He started his political career as a member of Akhil Bhartiya Vidhyarti Parishad (ABVP), the student wing of BJP, when he was pursuing his degree at Patna College. After graduating, he studied Law from Himachal Pradesh (HP) University where he became an active member of ABVP.

Because of his serious involvement in students politics and his immense leadership skills, in 1977, he was elected as the President of ABVP in Himachal Pradesh. In main stream politics, he was twice elected in the Legislative Assembly of Himachal Pradesh (in 1993 and re-elected in 1998). After re-election he became minister of Health and Family Welfare in the HP State Government. He had successful double term stint in the HP Assembly and was elected the third time in the assembly in 2007. During the third term as assembly member he finally got the place as Cabinet Minister and he became responsible for Forest Environment, Science and Technology.

In 2012, he got elected in the Upper Chamber of the Parliament from Himachal Pradesh. On 9th November 2019, he became Union Cabinet Minister of Health and Family Welfare in Narendra Modi government. He replaced Harsh Vardhan (former Union Cabinet Minister of Health and Family Welfare) from the same party.

During the 2019 Lok-Sabha election JP Nadda was responsible for Uttar Pradesh and he managed to successfully earn almost 50% votes in Uttar Pradesh competing against the legacy of Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samajwadi Party. BJP registered a thumping victory with 62 seats which helped BJP to reach the strong figure of 304 country wide.

What HE SAID AFTER BECOMING PRESIDENT?

He delivered a very short speech in front of the top leaders of the nation after becoming National President of BJP. He commenced his speech by thanking Prime Minister Modi. He thanked all regional leaders across the nation for electing him the President without any opposition. He expressed his gratitude and considered himself fortunate to have had good times with senior leaders like Murli Manohar Joshi, Lal Krishna Advani and appreciated the opportunity to work with dynamic leaders like Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari and many more of the current generation. He also highlighted the future objectives as the President of the world’s biggest party and promised to bring many more states under the banner of “Kamal” the BJP Party symbol Lotus.
