Today, Hizbul Mujahideen’s top commander Riyaz Naikoo has been shot dead in an encounter between the security forces and terrorists in Kashmir’s Pulwama District.
35-year-old Naikoo, was former Maths teacher when he joined the terror group Hizbul Mujahideen in 2012. Two years after 100 people were killed during summer marked by protests and violence.
For almost 8 years, he was associated and involved in many terrorist attacks in the Kashmir valley. As per the sources, Riyaz was scheduled to visit his aged parents in the valley when Intel got the tip-off.
The joint squad of Indian Army, CRPF and J&K police undertook a search operation in Beighbora village which soon turned into a deadly gun battle ground.
Ahead of this encounter, multiple ground were dug up after obtaining information about the tunnels and secret hideout to run away.
Around 9 AM in avantipore, connection with terrorist was established with the gun battle going on. At last, our Indian Army blew up the house where the terrorist was suspected to be trapped with 40 Kg IED Blast.
He was holding a bounty of Rs. 12 lakh on his head. Naikoo became the commander of Hizbul Mujahideen after the demise of Mohammad Yasin, who had taken the reins of the outfit after Burhan Wani’s loss in 2016.
As the encounter continues, authorities have snapped away the Internet service across Kashmir, fearing a law and order situation which was confronted earlier at the time of former Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani’s death.
